Mitchell Green was my next door neighbor for about 10 years, sharing the famous "stoop" and was a frequent attendee in "the basement." He was an excited boy, enthusiastic about those he crushed on and those he dated. We were fast friends for years, keeping our contact when we both moved to Canarsie when I had broken legs and he sported a Jewfro. We had fun tooling around in his Plymouth Duster. He got back in touch when he was living in Ft. Lauderdale. He was close with his parents and I believe his sisters were nearby and he was active in the local synagogue. He sent me a libretto he was working on and told me he thought often of my late father who had been a tremendous opera buff. And then somehow we lost touch and when I asked after him of his old friend Marty Potrop I got the tragic news of his passing. Your memory is a blessing, old friend.
