Ellen Mojsiewicz - Class Of 1969

Ellen Mojsiewicz

Dorman, Ellen (Mojsiewicz), 56, devoted wife of Rod, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Alice Mojsiewicz Fogelman (1997) and Edward Mojsiewicz (1962), Mrs. Dorman lived on Staten Island from 1982 to 1994 before moving to Kinnelon, NJ, and then to Lake Iosco, Haskell, in 2006. Earning a BS in Theater from Brooklyn College (1973), she later pursued graduate studies there in Audiology. While in college, she met her husband on a ski trip and married in NYC in 1975. Mrs. Dorman was an active member of community and school life. She loved young people and was well known for her open heart and generosity. She was instinctively hospitable, welcoming new friends to her home, offering a place to stay for weeks or months to those in need. For the past two years, she battled pancreatic cancer. Despite her illness, she was thrilled to be able to take a dream vacation to Europe last fall. In the face of this grave illness, she showed great bravery and zest for life. Her indomitable will would not be bent by chemotherapy, surgery or long days in the Oncology ward. She is survived by her children Douglas, Matthew and Sarah, and grandson Brodie, and was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Long (2000). Funeral service 8:30 PM, Thursday, at the Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale. Disposition private. Visitation Thursday, 2-4 PM and 7-8:30 PM. The family will be gathering in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY, Sunday, 11-3 PM.
