Hello folks....

I kind of wish it was 1969 again... I wasn't all that wise then, but I was 18 and that made up for it (maybe). It's downright depressing that it's been more than 40 years since we graduated highschool.

I am a university professor in chemistry, and in environmental engineering at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon...long ways from Brooklyn...

I hope you are all as well as can be.

warm regards,

Jim

Friends...

When Sandy let me know about Ellen, it was a very sad day, and every day going forward will be darker.

Ellen was a super nice and kind person, and I know I am a far better person for having known her at Wingate. I am sure others know the same thing.

I regret that those years at Wingate with Ellen and with all of you are now so far in the past.

I miss Ellen.

I miss you all.

Why didn't someone tells us to stop time back then?

Not that the world then was so perfect, surely, but I remember my friends and favorite teachers (e.g., Jerry Tanklow. Mr. Michaels, Mrs. Salom) back then as nearly so, even a I hold pain for my own immaturity.

Much love and sadness from Portland, Oregon...

Jim

Mike.... Yes... Miss Pines..... 9th Grade at Winthrop. I was part of that mix, having just moved to Brooklyn from Michigan....um, "Toto, this is not Michigan anymore...where the are we?" Well, you all accepted me, so thanks for that.....Mike Traverso, "Ducky" (that's all I remember), and many other colorful characters. Warm wishes to everyone.

Very sorry to hear this news.

I also remember that Gary loved to play basketball, with my memories about that being from Winthrop JHS and those joint physical education classes where we had to sit on the floor at the beginning of the class, each at our particular assigned spot, with possible reward for our obedience to the dictator by being among the first to line up to go play our selected sport....

Sincere condolences to Gary's family, and warm wishes to all my one-time friends from Winthrop and Wingate. I wasn't perfect back then, but Gary and you all helped make me better, and better prepared for life.
