Joey was my baby brother....He is still in my heart every single day.... My daughter Jennifer named her second child after him.... Jake....and is the most special little boy....a namesake for the sweetest brother anyone could have wished for.... he is in my thoughts always...
Joey was a good friend for many, many years. In our early 20s we used to get together at my house for some pinochle and beer. Joey was my partner and he took the game real seriously. Unfortunately for him, I didn't. He would get so angry when I reneged. The more beer I had, the funnier I found it. Sometimes I'd renege on purpose just to watch his face turn red and his head explode. Still, we stayed pinochle partners and friends.
One thing that I will remember forever is that day in January of 1979 when even though he was weak and close to the end of his own life, he attended my mother's shiva. What a mensch!
